Our bursary programme aims to fund academically deserving students who lack the financial means to study full-time towards their first Undergraduate or Honours qualification at a South African public University or University of Technology.
Our Focus:
- Addressing South Africa’s scarce-skills shortages, particularly in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) and Green Economy skills.
- Promoting sustainability, social equity, and environmental well-being.
Eligibility Criteria:
| Criteria | Description |
|---|---|
| South African citizenship | You must be a South African citizen to be eligible for the bursary. |
| Proven financial need | You must demonstrate a proven financial need to be eligible for the bursary. |
| Minimum academic results | You must have a minimum academic result of 65% average in the year of application and 65% average in required subjects for the desired degree. |
| Admission to a South African public university or university of technology | You must be admitted to a South African public university or university of technology to be eligible for the bursary. |
| Exclusion of applicants with Mathematics Literacy | Applicants with Mathematics Literacy will not be considered for the bursary. |
Required Supporting Documents:
- Certified copy of South African identity card/document
- Recent academic transcript
- Financial checks affidavit signed by parents/guardians and the applicant
Screening Process:
- Online applications only
- Incomplete applications will be disqualified
- Shortlisting according to qualifying criteria
- Verification of income and supporting documents for shortlisted applicants
- Psychometric assessments and virtual interviews for shortlisted applicants
Bursary Awards:
- At the sole discretion of the Nedbank Educational Trust
- Feedback provided to all applicants upon completion of the recruitment process
